Welcome to the Central Coast Mamas' Blog!

We are coming close to the year mark of the creation of the Central Coast Mamas Facebook group. I can't believe that the group has grown to over 100 mamas! The idea for the group was first formed while having a cup of coffee in downtown SLO with a local mom who I had been connected with through an email sent to me by BabyCenter.com. BabyCenter is a huge national (international?) website where moms connect every day. While there is value in sites like this, I prefer a more personal connection. I want to be able to talk about events that are happening in our community, get recommendations from seasoned moms in my community, and actually get together with and get to know moms in the community where I live. Melissa and I lived 10 minutes from each other, yet it took a huge cyberspace to connect us by chance.

There are so many moms in our community who are looking to get connected with other moms. (I am one of them, which is why I started this group!) Honestly, motherhood can be a lonely road if you choose to travel on it alone. I don't think that we are meant to do it alone. I need friends around me who are in a similar spot along the road with me. They can help me out along the way, and hopefully I can help them out along the way as well. And I have found that traveling in a group is much more fun!

This new blog is just an addition to the Central Coast Mamas' community. I hope it can be used to bring even greater connections to all of you mamas who stretch the coast from Paso Robles to Santa Maria. I hope to feature moms who have local businesses (let's support one another), moms who have special areas of strength and can lend tips or advice (let's learn from one another), and also post up local events or community reminders specific to families. If that all sounds good to you, then bookmark this page or add it to your Google reader. (I will also post all new posts to the Facebook page as well.)
